Region of the Marches, land of harmony
Marches is the only region in Italy with the name in the plural form, symbolizing the great variety of the land. Marches hills extend from the Apennines to the Adriatic Sea towards harmonic valleys which are mostly parallel.
On the hills there are castles and walled cities of ancient traditions. All communities jealously guard their history and their past and all have a figure to be remembered as a great protagonist of the art or the history. Rossini and Pergolesi, Spontini , Leopardi, Bartolini and Cecco d'Ascoli, Raphael and Bramante, Federico II di Svevia, Sixtus V and Pius IX are only some of the members of this illustrious family: all sons of a unique and multifaceted land, yet humble and strong, sincere and generous. The typical silence or the reluctance of the Marches people are not synonymous of fear, but awareness of the need of working with seriousness in order to affirm the quality of their work.
Colonnara is in the heart of this region, in Cupramontana, province of Ancona. It is a company that for over fifty years has been able to interpret with its wines the best the region can express. These are the hills of the Castelli di Jesi, where the vine Verdicchio has found for centuries its ideal habitat and where we make a wine elsewhere unreapetable.
