3 Bicchieri per Ubaldo Rosi 2006
The sparkling Brut Metodo Classico Riserva 2006 has been awarded with the 3 Bicchieri by the prestigious Italian Wine Guide Vini d'Italia 2013 edited by Gambero Rosso.
It is the first time ever that the Gambero Rosso awards with the prestigious ‘Tre Bicchieri’ a sparkling wine in the Marche.
The Brut Metodo Classico Riserva UBALDO ROSI Verdicchio DOC 2006 produced by the well known cooperative Colonnara , won the Tre Bicchieri award by the Gambero Rosso Italian Wine Guide 2013.
The Ubaldo Rosi sparkling wine was produced for the first time in 1997 and launched in 2003. The Ubaldo Rosi is a Riserva produced in limited quantity (6.000 bottles / year), dedicated by Colonnara to the homonymous director of the Ducal House of Leuchtenberg from 1843 to 1847. During the same period, when he used to live in Jesi,he was responsible for the production of sparkling wine according to the traditional method.
Since the first vintage, Ubaldo Rosi’s quality is recognized with major awards in Italy and abroad. It is in fact repeatedly awarded by the best restaurant guides and in 2012 it is cited in the Gambero Rosso sparkling wine guide as one of the 10 best Italian sparkling wines, receiving the Oscar of the Oscars: among those excellent Italian wines, it is the only produced in the Southern region from the Pò river.
The bouquet is fresh and intense, particularly fine, with a clear aroma of bread crust; the taste is dry, full-bodied, complex and balanced with a long taste-olfactory persistence. It is an ideal companion for all meals, particularly recommended with all seafood, raw and cooked meats and fried food.
The ‘Tre Bicchieri’ is a well-deserved award to a company that has been working for more than 50 years for the promotion of local wines. It is with great satisfaction that the President Massimiliano Latini thanked all the members of the cooperative for their dedication and for their crucial contribution to the production of wines and sparkling wines of the highest quality.
Among the other sparkling wines produced by Colonnara, two other products are to be mentioned: the Brut Metodo Classico Luigi Ghislieri, dedicated to one of the past presidents of Colonnara, Luigi Pio Ghislieri Marazzi, who in the late '60s has recovered the tradition of sparkling wine making in Cupramontana by starting the production of sparkling wines, according to the method Martinotti (charmat) and also according to the traditional method since 1980. Then the Cuvée Tradition Riserva Personalizzata, the first Martinotti Method Brut sparkling wine produced by Colonnara in 1970. The latter has recently been involved in a major renewal that has made it even more interesting, both in terms of quality and image.
So, let’s make a toast to Colonnara, a company that has always believed in the potential of the native Italian grape of Verdicchio and which has once more added great value to the sparkling wine making tradition, at its best in the areas of Cupramontana and Apiro.
